The Good News

The bad news

First you have to get the traffic before you can sell it! You will have to read my traffic section to learn some techniques for that, but on the whole, it isn't easy, and not for beginners.

There is one possibility that is suitable for beginners who have enough money to take a little risk...well perhaps a big risk. First of all you get a hundred visitors per day to one of your good affiliate pages. Read the traffic section, but the secret is that in a typical keyword list you will have one keyword with a couple of million searches per day, ten keywords with ten thousand visitors per day, and nine hundred with less than ten visitors per day.

Don't compete with fifteen million

There are probably fifteen million websites competing for the top keyword, and nobody competing for the nine hundred poor keywords. Nobody wants to create a web page for ten visitors per day!

Do you fancy writing 900 pages, each optimized for one keyword? No? Well does 90 pages sound more do-able? Look at your list of 900 keywords and sort it. You'll find that you have many keywords that say the same in different words. For instance - build own website, make own website, create own website, design own website, build own web site, make own web site, create own web site, design own web site, build own web sight, make own web sight, create own web sight, design own web sight.

Those are twelve keywords that mean exactly the same, so gather them into one category. Do the same with all 900 keywords. You'll probably find that you have between 50 and 90 groups.

Now write an article optimized for each group with say another half dozen keywords taken from the other groups. You now have articles covering 900 keywords, each of which brings in an average of 5 visitors per day. Because you have no competitors, those 5 visitors are all yours, so you end up with 5X900=4500 visitors per day.

Consider the group of 12 mentioned above... 12X5=60, which means that you should average 60 visitors per day to that one page, which means that in ten days you will have 600 visitors. If 1% of these visitors buy an affiliate product worth $50, that will give you $300 for ten days on just that one page.

If you have ever tossed dice repeatedly, you know that averages don't work out as nicely as that. After a month, study your web analytics and you might find that 20 pages make no money at all, and one makes $20000 from four hundred visitors each day. Other pages will be somewhere in between.

Object of the exercise

It will feel good to make money from this exercise, but what you are trying to do is discover which keywords have most visitors. So study your website analytics very carefully indeed.

Now take the keyword with 400 visitors per day, and create a landing page for it, and send AdWords traffic there. Avoid a dangerous trap! Fill in the box that says how much you are prepared to spend each day. If you forget, you could run up an account of a hundred thousand dollars in a few hours on a popular keyword.

If you can buy 4000 visitors from Adwords each day for your good keyword, then you should be making a profit - as long as you pay less per keyword than you profit from your traffic.

Your heart will be in your mouth for the first few days. Don't forget that more campaigns fail than succeed, so be prepared to change your campaign every hundred visitors. You will have the option of comparing 4 headlines for your adwords adverts. Every hundred visitors pick the best of the four and replace the other three with new headlines (keep a record of headlines you have already tried).

After a few days, if the campaign still isn't doing very well, pull the plug and try another campaign. If you find the perfect headline, with lots of eager buyers visiting your site, then you can start selling your traffic for that one keyword only.
